At-Takwir

إِذَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ1

When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]1

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتۡ2

And when the stars fall, dispersing2

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡ3

And when the mountains are removed3

وَإِذَا ٱلۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ4

And when full-term she-camels are neglected4

وَإِذَا ٱلۡوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتۡ5

And when the wild beasts are gathered5

وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ6

And when the seas are filled with flame6

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتۡ7

And when the souls are paired7

وَإِذَا ٱلۡمَوۡءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتۡ8

And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked8

بِأَيِّ ذَنۢبٖ قُتِلَتۡ9

For what sin she was killed9

وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ10

And when the pages are made public10

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡ11

And when the sky is stripped away11

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتۡ12

And when Hellfire is set ablaze12

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَنَّةُ أُزۡلِفَتۡ13

And when Paradise is brought near13

عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٞ مَّآ أَحۡضَرَتۡ14

A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]14

فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلۡخُنَّسِ15

So I swear by the retreating stars15

ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡكُنَّسِ16

Those that run [their courses] and disappear16

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا عَسۡعَسَ17

And by the night as it closes in17

وَٱلصُّبۡحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ18

And by the dawn when it breathes18

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولٖ كَرِيمٖ19

[That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger19

ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي ٱلۡعَرۡشِ مَكِينٖ20

[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position]20

مُّطَاعٖ ثَمَّ أَمِينٖ21

Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy21

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجۡنُونٖ22

And your companion is not [at all] mad22

وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ23

And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon23

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِينٖ24

And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen24

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٖ25

And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]25

فَأَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُونَ26

So where are you going26

إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرٞ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ27

It is not except a reminder to the worlds27

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمۡ أَن يَسۡتَقِيمَ28

For whoever wills among you to take a right course28

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ29

And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds29
