Privacy Policy

Way2Quran ("we") operates the website way2quran.com and the Way2Quran mobile and TV apps (iOS, Google Play, Huawei AppGallery). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We do not sell your data, and we use no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

1. Using Way2Quran without an account

Most of Way2Quran works without an account. If you only browse and listen, we collect:

  • Anonymous usage analytics — a random visitor identifier (not tied to your name), the page or recitation requested, and your country (derived from your IP by our CDN; we do not store your full IP address). This helps us understand which recitations are popular and improve the catalog.
  • On your device only: language and theme preferences, bookmarks, and last-played position. You can clear these anytime in-app or by uninstalling.
  • Cookies and consent (website): we ask for your consent via a cookie notice before loading third-party analytics — Google Analytics and Cloudflare Insights, which help us measure traffic. If you decline, these are not loaded and our own anonymous analytics are switched off too. We use no advertising or marketing trackers.

2. If you create an account

Accounts are optional (for favourites, playlists, listening-history sync, study circles, and memorization tracking). When you register — by email or via Sign in with Google or Apple — we collect and store:

  • Your name and email address (and the Google/Apple account identifier if you use social sign-in).
  • A securely hashed password (we never store your password in readable form).
  • Content you create: favourites, playlists, bookmarks, memorization (hifz) progress, and study-circle membership.
  • Listening history linked to your account, so your history syncs across devices.

3. Prayer times and location (mobile)

If you enable prayer times or qibla and grant location permission, the app uses your device location to pick the nearest city and compute prayer times. This calculation happens on your device; we do not store your precise coordinates on our servers. You can decline the permission and choose a city manually instead.

4. Push notifications (mobile)

If you enable notifications, we store a push token for your device (with your chosen city and, if signed in, your account link) so we can send prayer reminders and Friday/daily reminders. You can turn notifications off in your device settings; uninstalling removes the device from our system.

5. Contact and newsletter

  • Contact form: we store the name, email, and message you submit so we can reply.
  • Newsletter: if subscribed, we store your email to send periodic updates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email or in your account settings.

6. Diagnostics

Our mobile app uses crash reporting (Sentry) to fix bugs. It is configured not to send personal identifiers with crash reports.

7. What we do NOT do

  • No advertising SDKs, ad networks, or third-party marketing trackers.
  • No selling or renting of personal data.
  • No storage of full IP addresses (logs truncate IPs; visitor analytics store none).

8. Your rights

You can:

  • Access and export your account data (in-app export).
  • Correct your profile in settings.
  • Delete your account and data. Deleting your account (in-app, or by request to the address below) erases your personal data across our systems — profile, favourites, playlists, bookmarks, memorization progress, study-circle membership, push devices, and the personal link to any listening history (anonymous aggregate statistics may be retained).
  • Withdraw consent (unsubscribe, disable notifications/location) at any time.

To exercise any right, email [email protected].

9. Children

Way2Quran is a general-audience Quran app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child provided data, contact us to remove it.

10. Changes

We will post changes here and update the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted.
