Ali ibn Hamza al-Kisai al-Kufi (119–189 AH / 737–805 CE), one of the Ten canonical reciters and the leading grammarian of his age. He took the recitation from Hamza al-Zayyat and a group from Kufa and Madinah, and was a tutor to the sons of the Abbasid Caliph Harun al-Rashid.

Al-Kisai's qirāʾa bridges the Kufan and Medinan schools and is characterised by extensive imala (vowel inclination) of alif, ya, and ha, along with distinctive rulings on the ra and certain words.
Al-Kisai's qirāʾa historically spread in Iraq, Iran, and Khorasan. It is taught in Islamic qirāʾat centres across the world.
전승자: Abu al-Harith an Al-Kisai
Al-Layth ibn Khalid al-Baghdadi, known as Abu al-Harith (died c. 240 AH / 854 CE), one of the senior transmitters of al-Kisai. He received the recitation directly from al-Kisai and transmitted it accurately.
전승자: Al-Duri an Al-Kisai
Hafs ibn Umar al-Duri (150–246 AH / 767–860 CE), who transmitted from both Abu Amr and al-Kisai. His transmission of al-Kisai is one of the two canonical transmissions for this qirāʾa.
