Accessibility

Way2Quran is for everyone. We want listening to and reading the Qur'an to be possible regardless of how you see, hear, or interact with your device. This page describes what the site supports today, what we know is still missing, and how to tell us when something is in your way.

Keyboard support

The whole site is operable by keyboard. A "Skip to content" link is the first element on every page. While audio is playing, the player responds to these shortcuts (they pause automatically while you type in a form field):

Audio player keyboard shortcuts
KeyAction
Space / KPlay / pause
J / LSeek back / forward 10 seconds
← / →Seek 5 seconds (30 with Shift)
↑ / ↓Volume up / down
MMute / unmute
N / PNext / previous track
RCycle repeat mode
SToggle shuffle
[ / ]Slower / faster playback

Screen readers

  • All player controls, links, and form fields carry localized labels.
  • Track changes — including automatic advance to the next surah — are announced via a polite live region, so you always know what is playing.
  • Form errors are announced as alerts and associated with their fields.

Vision and motion preferences

  • Reduced motion — if your system asks for reduced motion, all animations and transitions are disabled.
  • Increased contrast — if your system asks for more contrast, text and borders are strengthened and focus outlines are thicker.
  • Dark mode — a full dark theme is available from the header toggle.

Language and direction

The site is fully bilingual Arabic/English with correct right-to-left layout, plus interface translations in fifteen more languages. Arabic Qur'anic text uses traditional, high-legibility typefaces.

If you are deaf or hard of hearing

The Qur'anic text itself is the transcript of every recitation. The Read & Listen tool shows the written text alongside the audio so nothing is audio-only.

Known limitations

  • Mushaf reader pages are scanned images; a screen-reader-friendly text view is planned. Until then, the Read & Listen tool offers the same content as real text.
  • Some interactive elements do not yet respond to the keyboard; we are converting them progressively.
