Abu Jaafar al-Madani
Yazid ibn al-Qaqa al-Makhzumi al-Madani (died c. 130 AH / 747 CE), one of the Ten canonical reciters and the master of Madinan reciters in his era. His recitation traces back to Ubayy ibn Kaab and Abd Allah ibn Abbas, and Nafi al-Madani was among his students.

The qirāʾa of Abu Jaafar is among the oldest Medinan recitations and is distinguished by phonetic features in hamza, madd extensions, and idgham. It is one of the three additional recitations in the set of the Ten.
